Personal Background
Born in Jackson, Michigan in 1977.

I grew up in the Midwest. Moving from Michigan to Kansas as a child. I spent my adolescence in Ohio. After graduating Upper Arlington High School in 1996 I held different jobs. I had always held an affinity for the visual arts, and ‘creative’ (like a label) was a word that had been applied to me, by teachers and supervising adults, ever since I walked into pre-kindergarten in Hillsboro, Kansas. I grew up, I drew and painted when others collected things or chased girls.

In the Fall of 1998 I started college at Spring Arbor University a small, private, Liberal Arts college in Michigan. I majored in art. I studied primarily under Bill Bippes Sr. I received my BA from there in May, 2002, although, my graduation did not culminate until Feb ’03 with my graduating honors solo exhibition.
In Fall of ’03 I was accepted into The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA program. I allowed myself to experiment with ideas and techniques which fostered a deeper appreciation of painting in the larger environment of the city of Chicago.
I studied under Gaylen Gerber, Candida Alverez, and Pala Townsend among others.
I am Currently living and working in Rogers Park, by the lake, in the second city.
